Finding Muscle Changes in Myotonic Dystrophy Patients
Myotonic dystrophy (DM) is a disease that causes muscles to weaken and waste away. The purpose of this study is to find the best ways to measure muscle weakness and changes in patients with DM using MRI scans. Understanding these changes will help plan future studies to track the disease and test new treatments. We are seeking healthy volunteers as well as volunteers who have been diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy.

Studying a New Way to Prevent Blood Clots During Medical Procedures
The goal of this study is to help people who need medical procedures where their blood goes outside their body, like during dialysis or heart surgery. We want to find a way to stop blood clots during these procedures. This study will help us learn how to prevent clots and make these procedures safer. Improving Physical Function in Older Adults with Kidney Disease
The purpose of this study is to find out if two different programs can help older people with chronic kidney disease. One program involves exercise with quick movements 3 times per week for 12 weeks, and the other program involves taking classes on how to live a healthy lifestyle once per week for 12 weeks. Our researchers want to see if older people enjoy these programs and if they can be done safely. We are looking for volunteers who live within 20 miles of the Reynolda Campus.

The purpose of this study is to see who well the study drug DISC-0974 works for the treating myelofibrosis and anemia. We also want to learn more about the side effects the study drug may cause.

How Cancer Treatment May Affect Brain Health
This study is looking at whether a cancer medicine called bevacizumab may cause small changes in the brain by raising blood pressure. Researchers will use brain scans and blood pressure checks to learn more about brain health in older adults with cancer.
