Treating Recurrent Urethral Stricture with Tissue Engineered Urethral Construct
The urethra is a thin tube-like structure that allows urine to leave your bladder. Urethral stricture is a narrowing of the urethra that affects the flow of urine out of your bladder. The purpose of this study is to find out if an engineered urethra made from your own cells can be surgically implanted safely. We also want to find out if the implanted urethra helps improve urinating. The new urethral segment will be created using cells from your bladder, which are the same cells that make up your urethra.
