About This Study
The purpose of this research is to learn which of three treatments works best for helping people manage pain and use medicine after surgery. We also want to understand how pain, mood, and medicine use change after surgery. One of the treatments is a type of talk therapy called motivational interviewing, which may help people feel better and use less pain medicine. If you join the study, you will be placed into a group by chance-like flipping a coin. We are looking for volunteers who are scheduled for elective orthopedic surgery at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.
