    About This Study

Gastroparesis is a disease where the stomach does not empty food the way it should. People with diabetes, people who had stomach surgery, or people who had certain viruses may be more likely to get it. This study wants to learn what causes this problem and how to stop it or create better treatments by comparing people who have it with people who do not. We are looking for volunteers who have been diagnosed with gastroparesis or functional dyspepsia and are scheduled for a surgical procedure on their abdomen. During this procedure a biopsy will be taken of the stomach and used for research purposes.
